The name of the organization shall be known as the Pine-Richland Athletic Hall of Fame, herein referred to as PR Athletic Hall of Fame.
Mission
Pine-Richland School District values the learning that occurs both inside and outside the classroom. Student-athletes experience personal growth and develop resiliency when engaged in the diverse opportunities provided through their chosen sport or sports.
The PR Athletic Hall of Fame honors and recognizes those associated with Pine-Richland athletics who have experienced significant accomplishments in their chosen sport or sports.
Format
The responsibility for the PR Athletic Hall of Fame’s management and administration shall reside with the Director of Athletics and the PR Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. The The PR Athletic Hall of Fame evaluation committee will have a maximum of 13 members, accept applications, and select inductees. The committee will be comprised of:
- Pine-Richland Director of Athletics, serving as the Executive Director of the PR Athletic Hall of Fame.
- Pine-Richland High School Principal or Assistant Principal.

Current coaches will be selected to two (2) year terms. Committee members may reapply after four years or after being off the committee for a number of years (Committee Member Application).
Funds will be allocated within the school district’s general fund under the supervision of the athletic department. Advertising revenue will be generated annually to offset costs. The Executive Director will approve all expenditures.
Any proposed amendments to the Bylaws or new Bylaws may be suggested by the Committee or Executive Director. Suggestions must be approved by the Committee and will take effect the following year.

Criteria for Evaluation
The committee will evaluate nominees according to national, state, WPIAL, or conference recognition during their high school career. The committee will evaluate the following: 1) The nominee’s degree of recognition as a Pine-Richland athlete, coach, administrator or active supporter; 2) The significance or stature of the nominee’s accomplishments as a Pine-Richland athlete as determined by statistical records or the number and stature of awards received; 3) Distinctive or unique accomplishments which received public attention or brought acclaim to the nominee or Pine-Richland School District during or after their tenure with the district.
Nominations
Nominations may be submitted by members of the committee, community, or alumni. Nominations will be accepted by completing a PR Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination Form. The nominating individual must provide supporting documentation, statistical information, any available newspaper clippings, and a letter of recommendation. Nominations must be received by the designated due date prior to the selection meeting in order to be considered for induction in the fall. Once an individual has been nominated, his/her file will remain active for five (5) years and he/she will continue to be considered for induction during that time. If a candidate is not inducted after five (5) years, his/her name may be removed from the active nominee list. After five (5) years, if a candidate is not inducted, a new application may be submitted.
Inductee Selection Process
In order for a committee member to vote on the nominees, he/she must attend the selection meeting. A maximum of five (5) inductees will be selected each year. Those nominees receiving 2/3 of the votes from committee members will be eligible for induction into the PR Athletic Hall of Fame.
Selection Process Steps
- Each committee member evaluates all candidates individually prior to the selection meeting.
During the Selection Meeting (to have a vote, the committee member must attend the selection meeting): - Each committee member will be provided an opportunity to endorse candidates from their review of all applications.
- After all candidates are endorsed by committee members, a discussion will occur about each of the endorsed candidates.
- After the discussion, each committee member will rank each candidate from one (1) to the number of candidates endorsed.
- Rankings will be counted (the candidate with the lowest score will be the top candidate).
- The top five (5) candidates with the lowest scores will be considered for induction.
- If candidates tie for the top five (5), then the committee will discuss those in the top five (5) and another ranking occurs for those candidates only. (Example, clear #1 and #2, but 6 people tie for 3, 4, and 5. The 6 who tied would be discussed and a new ranking would occur.)
- Once the top five (5) candidates are identified, a 2/3 approval vote from the committee would be needed for each candidate to be inducted.
- If five (5) are not recommended with the 2/3 vote, the remaining candidates are discussed and the process repeats.
- All conversations will be confidential. At no time should a committee member share these conversations with those outside of the committee.
Induction
The inductees will be honored with a banquet organized by the committee. Each inductee is encouraged to attend both the PR Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony and banquet. If the inductee is deceased or unable to attend, a representative is welcome to participate in the ceremony and banquet as the inductee’s representative. Each inductee or representative will receive an award highlighting his/her induction and their accomplishments. Each inductee or representative will receive two (2) complimentary tickets to the PR Athletic Hall of Fame banquet and the designated football game. The inductees will be introduced during the PR Athletic Hall of Fame banquet and prior to the designated football game. A duplication of each inductee award will be permanently displayed in the PR Athletic Hall of Fame display area. The annual banquet will be held on the Pine-Richland School District campus. The district’s food service provider will cater the event.
