Shawn Leydig teaches Air Force JROTC at Pine-Richland High School. A 1999 graduate of Baldwin High School, Shawn was a two-sport varsity athlete, earning letters in both football and javelin.
He continued his athletic career at Mansfield University, where he played Division II football from 1999-2001. Following the events of 9/11, Shawn enlisted in the United States Air Force in December 2001. After 24 years of dedicated service, he retired from the Air Force in December 2025.
In addition to his military and teaching career, Shawn has served as a varsity lacrosse head coach for the past 17 years, with coaching stops at North Hills, Baldwin, and most recently South Fayette. During his tenure, his teams have been three-time WPIAL runners-up and reached the Pennsylvania state final four in 2024. He is a two-time WPIAL Coach of the Year and was named Pennsylvania State Coach of the Year in 2024. That same year, he was honored as the NFHS Section 2 Coach of the Year, representing Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky.
Shawn is excited to be a part of the unified bocce team and to support an incredible group of athletes as they compete. With his daughter, Hope, who has Down syndrome, this opportunity is especially meaningful. He looks forward to watching the team grow both as athletes and as individuals while giving back to a community close to his heart.
